School education minister Varsha Gaikwad inaugurated e-Balbharati in the city on Friday morning and conducted a virtual classroom session with over 100 schools at a time across the state.
As many as 725 schools in Maharashtra will be connected to the virtual classroom by e-Balbharati, earlier known as Balchitrawani. The students will be able to attend sessions with experts, lectures from renowned personalities, among others, through this virtual medium.
On Friday, students from Osmanabad, Kolhapur, Raigad, Ratnagiri, Ahmednagar and other districts, asked about the number of subjects that would be covered under this programme, how useful the facility would be for them, would the students of semi-English schools benefit from it, would it be used to relieve students’ stress.
Gaikwad said, “The virtual classroom set up in over 700 schools in Maharashtra will help lakhs of students connect and interact with experts. Experts, counsellors, motivational speakers will guide students on exams and how to destress during this period.”
Shraddha Patil, a teacher from Uran in Raigad, asked Gaikwad about her journey from being a professor to the education minister. Gaikwad said, “I was a student of a government Marathi-medium school and I would engage in sports activities till Standard X. I completed my postgraduation in Maths, followed by a bachelor's degree in education. I also enrolled for adoctorate degree. But, I joined politics. So, from being a teacher to minister was a tough road for me. But, I feel that each one of you have similar capabilities and can make Maharashtra proud.”
