LAW CARNIVAL - Symbiosis to co-present global law deans' forum

The global law deans' forum and the annual meeting of the International Association of Law Schools (IALS) will be held in the city between November 8 and 11. Symbiosis Law School along with IALS is hosting the event.

“This is a highly prestigious and unique event. For the first time in India, a private law school will bring together eight national and five private law schools to co-host and welcome over 100 law deans to deliberate on global standards in legal education,“ director of SLS-P Shashikala Gurpur said She added, “The forum will take forward the exploration of essential elements of legal education with a focus on building the framework for developing standards and evaluating them from a law school leader's perspective, especially in the 21st century . The recommendations will be sent to the central government.“

“Established in 2000, IALS comprises of 170 law schools and departments from over 55 countries,“ the vice-chancellor of Symbiosis International University , Rajani Gupte, said.

The dean emeritus of Kenneth Wang School of Law, Soochow University in China and chairman of IALS, Francis SL Wang, said in a written statement, “The conference in Symbiosis Pune is about awareness with involvement of Carnegie Foundation, which is known for advanced research on education from interdisciplinary perspective.“

A `Law Carnival' will also be held where artisans will showcase various crafts.
