Integrated five-year BEd courses for teaching aspirants

New Programme Expected To Fill Up Vacant Seats
To check vacant seats for degree courses in education across the state, the government has decided to introduce integrated five-year courses for students wishing to opt for tea ching as their career in the future.

This means students from arts, science and commerce streams will be allowed to take up integrated Bachelors in Education (BEd) course along with their respective degrees.For this, the government has appointed a committee headed by director of higher education Dhanraj Mane, which is working on the syllabus and prerequisites for the integrated course for recommendations to the education department.

Around 67% seats in the BEd and 90% in the Master's in Education (MEd) courses are vacant this year, putting a huge burden on the colleges offering these courses.
