Students taking the JEE (A) exams for IIT admission in 2018 will pay a higher registration fee and GST. While girls, SCs, STs and differently abled students will pay `1,300 +GST, the general category fee will be `2,600+GST.
Over two lakh students looking forward to take the JEE Advanced-2018 exams for admission into IITs will have to pay higher registration fee apart from GST, the rates of which will be specified by the Centre at the time of registration. This was decided on Thursday by IIT-Kanpur which is conducting the exam.
Organising chairman of the exam, Prof Shalabh, said the exam would be held on May 20. Top 2.24 lakh students, who would clear JEE Mains-2018 to be conducted by CBSE on April 8, will get a chance to sit for JEE Advanced. While female candidates (all categories), SCs, STs and differently abled persons will be required to pay Rs 1,300 plus GST, compared to the existing fee of Rs 1,200, candidates in the general category will pay Rs 2,600 plus GST. For foreign nationals (candidates from SAARC countries), fee of $160 plus GST has been finalised. For candidates from non-SAARC countries, $300 plus GST has been fixed.
