PUBLISH DATE 6th July 2017

State's Process For Colleges Yet To Start

The schedule released by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) for undergraduate medical admissions in deemed and central universities has put students in dilemma. While the central counselling process commenced from Wednesday , the state's process for government and private medical colleges will start only from July 24. Students seeking admission in private or deemed institutes will be in a predicament to confirm their seats in deemed colleges or to wait for better and affordable options in private colleges in the state.

According to the schedule released by DGHS, medical aspirants can start filling their choices from July 7, and lock it on July 12. “The state process should have started a little before DGHS admissions as it gives more options to students. Students would have known their chances in state's government and private medical colleges. At least, the first round of the state counselling process should have completed before the DGHS process,“ suggested Sudha Shenoy , a parent.

The DGHS uploaded the list of participating deemed institutes, but some college names, including a few from Maha rashtra, are missing. “They must be uploading them as and when they get college details.Students have to lock their choices by July 12, so they will have enough time,“ said a parent.
