CISCE to set papers for IX, XI annual exams?

PUBLISH DATE 2nd December 2017

Close on the heels of the CISCE deciding to reduce pass marks for ICSE and ISC examinations from 2019, another big change is on the anvil.

The council has proposed to prepare question papers for examinations of classes IX and XI from 2020.

The suggestion was mooted by chief executive and secretary of CISCE Gerry Arathoon in Jaipur at the annual conference of Association of Schools For the Indian School Certificate. There are several school boards which set the question papers for classes IX and XI. Even in Bengal, the question papers of Class XI are prepared by the WB Higher Secondary Council. “This will bring uniformity in council-affiliated schools and maintain a standard. There have also been concerns over some schools going beyond curriculum which adds to students’ stress,” Arathoon said.
