CBSE X pass rate down, but high scorers up 22%

The success rate of the Central Board of Secondary Education's Class X examination saw a drop this year too -by as much as 5.3%.But the rate in the Chennai region, of which Maharashtra is a part, was 99.6% -only ashade lower than last year.

Despite the drop in pass percentage, more than two lakh students overall scored a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 10 -up by almost 22% from last year. After several years, boys outperformed girls by 0.9%.

Like elsewhere in the co untry, schools in Pune registered a high number of students scoring above 9 and a perfect 10.
