15L students to sit for HSC exam this yr

Arecord 15.05 lakh students in Maharashtra will appear for the higher school certificate (HSC, std XII) examination that begins on Tuesday . Last year, around 13.88 lakh students sat for the exam in the state.

The exam will be conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary education. The rise in student number is due to high pass percentages over the past couple of years and the July supplementary exam, state board chairman Gangadhar Mhamane said on Monday .

Even before the higher school certificate (HSC, Std XII) examination has begun in the state, a record has been set.

As many as 15.05 lakh students in Maharashtra will appear for the higher school certificate (HSC, std XII) examination that begins on Tuesday . Last year, around 13.88 lakh students sat for the exam in the state.

The exam will be conducted by the Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary education.The rise in student number is due to high pass percentages over the past couple of years and the July supplementary exam, state board chairman Gangadhar Mhamane said on Monday . The exam will be conducted across 9,143 junior colleges in the state and 2,710 centres have been allotted for the exam. Of the total students, 8.48 lakh are boys while 6.56 lakh are girls.

The exam will be conducted in the nine divisions of the state board, including Pune, Nagpur, Aurangabad, Mumbai, Kolhapur, Amravati, Nashik, Latur and Konkan. About 5.59 lakh students would appear for the science faculty, 5.09 lakh for arts, 3.73 for commerce and 62,948 for minimum competency vocational course (MCVC).
