The Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has two campuses, JIPMER Puducherry and JIPMER Karaikal. JIPMER conducted a separate entrance test for admission to the MBBS course up to 2019. However, with the implementation of NMC Act, JIPMER MBBS exam was relaced by NEET. The total number of seats offered by the two campuses of JIPMER,combined, is 200. NEET is the only entrance test for admission to MBBS courses in India.

Since the admission to JIPMER MBBS course is via NEET, we will discuss only this examination here.

JIPMER MBBS 2020 Admission Process

For seeking admission to the JIPMER MBBS course, a candidate has to appear for NEET. As mentioned above, NEET is the only undergraduate medical entrance test in India. The examination is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). 

  • The registrations for NEET 2020 examination began on December 2
  • Candidates who wished to appear for NEET 2020 had to register on the official website of NTA and fill the application form
  • After completing the NEET application form, candidates had to pay a registration fee to submit it
  • The application/registration fee could be paid online via credit card/ debit card/ net banking.
  • Upon successful submission of the application form, a candidate will be issued the NEET 2020 admit card
  • He/she must download and print the admit card to appear for the entrance test
  • NEET 2020 exam will be conducted on July 26
  • According to the NEET pattern 2020, the duration of the examination will be 3 hours
  • The question paper will have 180 MCQ based questions, each carrying a weightage of four marks
  • Once the examination is conducted successfully, NTA will process and announce NEET result
  • Candidates who qualify the examination will be called to attend the NEET counselling

 

Candidates must note that it is important to clear NEET 2020 to seek admission in JIPMER MBBS. The institute does not accept the marks/ scores of any other entrance test for this purpose.

Nationality :

  • Candidates should be an Indian citizen.
  • Non-Resident Indians (NRI)/Overseas Citizens of India (OCI) are also eligible to apply for the exam.

Educational Qualification

  • Candidates should have passed 10+2 or equivalent level of examination from a recognized board with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology along with English as one of the electives.
  • Candidates must have passed each subject separately with 50% marks (45% marks for GEN-OPH and 40% for OBC/SC/ST category) in aggregate.
  • Candidates who will be appearing in class 12th final examination in March/April 2020 are also eligible for the exam.

Age Limit

Candidates should have attained 17 years of age at the time of admission i.e. they must be born on or before 1st January 2004. There is no upper age limit for the exam. Relaxation in the age-limit will be provided to reserved category candidates.

JIPMER MBBS 2020 Syllabus – Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) has released the syllabus of JIPMER MBBS 2020. Out of the prescribed syllabus, the question in JIPMER MBBS 2020 entrance examination will be asked. JIPMER MBBS 2020 syllabus is based on state board higher secondary and as prescribed by CBSE for XI & XII Standards. The questions of JIPMER MBBS 2020 entrance exam will be covered from following subjects Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Logic Quantitative Reasoning, English and Comprehension. As per the JIPMER MBBS 2020 marking scheme, for each correct answer 4 marks will be allocated. There will be total 200 questions in entrance examination. From this session, the JIPMER MBBS 2020 entrance exam will be of 800 marks.

The syllabus of JIPMER MBBS 2020 is the same syllabus as that of Higher Secondary and CBSE students. Candidates will have to study various topics of Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Logic and Quantitative Reasoning and English and Comprehension for the entrance examination. The examination will be conducted online and in English medium only.
