National Science Olympiads:

The National Science Olympiad starts with an examination Structured by Science Olympiad Foundation. Every year this exam is held at around 1400 colleges. It inspires the scholars to strive for a better understanding of scientific facts and data to improve their reasoning, analytical and problem-solving skills. It is a competition that identifies their understanding, knowledge, application and power of interpretation.

Levels of examination:

Level I: The first level is structured in the respective schools of the students.

  • The question paper has three sections –
    • For Grade 1 to Grade 10
      • Section-1: Logical Reasoning
      • Section-2: Science
      • Section-3: Achievers Section
    • For Grade 11 and Grade 12
      • Section-1: Physics/Chemistry
      • Section-2: Achievers Section
      • Section-3: Mathematics/Biology

Medium: English.

  • CBSE, ICSE/ISC, and State Board syllabus is followed for setting the test papers.
  • The exam is conducted during school hours.

Level II:

 level 2 is piloted for scholars of grade 3 to grade 12. The students of the second round would include the following:

  • Top 5% of candidates grade wise who appear for the 1st level exam. Due weightage to scores scored in different sections will be given.
  • Zone wise top 25 position owners are selected.
  • Grade topper where at least 10 scholars from a grade appear in the exam & scores 50% passing scores. For section wise registrations, winner(s) of the gold medal may not necessarily pass for the second level.

 

Syllabus:

  • For Grade 1 to Grade 10
    • Section-1: Logical Reasoning
    • Section-2: Science
    • Section-3: Achievers Section

 

  • For Grade 11 and Grade 12
    • Section-1: Physics/Chemistry
    • Section-2: Achievers Section
    • Section-3: Mathematics/Biology

Rewards:

Students of Olympiads are positioned on the basis of scores obtained. Hence, after taking the first level of the test, scholars can judge themselves academically at four different levels – within the school, at city level, at zonal level and above all at International level.

Each scholar is given a Scholar Performance Report (SPR). The SPR analyses the strong and weak areas of the scholar and also gives a detailed feat comparison of the scholar vis-à-vis other scholars at School, City, Zonal and International level. Analysis of the scholar’s past 8 years’ feat is also given.


 

Eligibility:

Anyone studying in school and junior college can participate the competition.
