About PGDM (SM)

The field of securities markets is a confluence of several related areas – economics, financial economics, accounting and reporting, quantitative methods and computing, law and compliance and more. One aspiring for an entrepreneurial or managerial career in the dynamic securities markets is required to possess a myriad of skill sets over and above expertise in the markets and market-related areas.

The School for Securities Education (SSE) of NISM, with its prior experience in designing and delivering academic programmes, that suit the dynamic (securities markets) industry requirements, infused with innovation, has conceived the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Securities Markets) PGDM (SM) to create the complete securities market professionals. The programme is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).

Where does PGDM (SM) lead to?

PGDM (SM) is an AICTE approved two-year post-graduate diploma programme (equivalent to MBA) where the students get exposure to varied subjects and verticals of securities markets including Economics, Financial Statement Analysis, Corporate Finance, Portfolio Management, Equity Valuation, Fixed Income Securities, Derivatives & Risk Management, Investment Banking, Mutual Funds, and Wealth Management, benchmarked with the best and contemporary texts. PGDM (SM) was first launched in 2017. Currently, first batch is undergoing its final term.

The carefully crafted curriculum, along with applications based teaching pedagogy and industry internship, serves as a strong foundation for further grooming and growth into various career paths in securities markets. PGDM (SM) students are positioned to take up a wide range of roles and responsibilities, such as Analysts, Investment Managers, Investment Bankers, Treasury Managers, Risk Managers, Compliance Officers, Financial Planners, Wealth Managers, etc

Eligibility Criteria

Academic Qualification

Graduate in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks from a University recognised by UGC or equivalent under 10+2+3 stream. Provisional admission will be granted to those in the final year of graduation and subject to confirmation of this criterion 

Age

There is no age limit for pursuing PGDM (SM). However, applicants less than 28 years of age as on August 01, 2019 would be preferred.

Appearance in Competitive Examinations

The candidates are required to qualify in anyone of the following all India Common Admission Tests i.e. CAT, XAT, CMAT, ATMA, MAT, GMAT or MH-CET and to submit valid test score.

The decision of the Selection Committee of NISM on cut-off scores for selection will be final in this regard.

Selection Procedure

It shall be based on the scores obtained in the common entrance test, weightage for educational qualifications, work experience, essay/test, GD, interview etc.

In the recent past, there has been tremendous amount of Technology Disruption in the Financial Market within the country and also across the globe. This resulted in dearth of Information Technology professionals in financial market with adequate knowledge of finance and emerging technologies. The School for Securities Education of NISM, with its prior experience in designing and delivering academic programs, that suits the dynamic (securities markets) industry requirements, has therefore conceived the Post Graduate Diploma in Management (Financial Technology) – PGDM(FinTech) to bridge the said gap.

In addition to the courses on Finance and Economics, this program primarily includes courses on Business Analytics, Information & Cyber Security, Blockchain, RegTech, Data Warehousing, Digital Forensics, financial modelling using R and Python, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence etc. with specific reference to financial market. Thus, the exhaustive and all-encompassing course structure would help in producing professionals who have a judicious mix of deep knowledge of Finance and emerging technologies.

PGDM(FinTech) programme is positioned to develop future CIOs, to develop resources having both “Technology” and “Domain Knowledge” of Financial Market for organizations like Securities Market Intermediaries, Financial Institutions and other private organizations dealing with FinTech.

The programme is unique on six major counts viz.

1.Blend of practice-cum learning.

2.Curriculum designed to suit the needs of the industry

3.The course delivery is application oriented.

4.The programme is a unique combination of “Finance Domain Knowledge” and “Financial Technology” and includes courses on Financial Markets, Business Analytics, Info and Cyber Security and Fintech.

5.It is “Internship” intensive. Stipend of Rs. 30,000/- per month to the selected top fifteen interns in SEBI.

6.Accommodation to the selected outstation interns will be provided by SEBI, subject to the availability.

The programme entails 4 days of internship (Monday-Thursday) for practical exposure and 2 days of classroom interaction (Friday & Saturday) per week. The programme is non-residential. Selective sponsoring organization may provide internship with stipend.
