Admission Details:

In the Annual Plan of 1997-98, the Government of Puducherry incorporated a proposal to establish a Medical College at Puducherry. The Hon’ble Members of the Legislative Assembly of the Union Territory of Puducherry expressed the immediate need for establishing the same in the Government sector. Hon’ble Chief Minister, during discussions on the Demand for Grants in the Assembly Sessions, assured the Hon’ble Members that a Medical College will be established at the earliest with the approval of Government of India. Accordingly, approval of the Planning Commission of India was obtained by the Union Territory Government to establish a first ever Government Medical College in the Union Territory of Puducherry by registering a society called the Pondicherry Medical College Society, later renamed as Puducherry Medical College Society, fully controlled by the Government of Puducherry on 08.06.2005.
